Witnessing Advocacy in Action

This past week, I was in Tallahassee on the day of the student rally, remembering the 17 lives lost in Parkland, FL. But the students were doing much more than that. They were demanding change.

Legislators from both parties took the time to talk with them and listen to their concerns. And this week, those same legislators will begin a very public, comprehensive debate about strengthening Florida’s gun laws and protecting our schools and children.

Witnessing their actions made me think about how incredible it is to live in a state and country where people young and old are free to exercise their right to raise their voices… and have that voice be heard by those who can do something about it.

So whether you agree or disagree with whatever new legislation gets passed, these students should be proud. These are the leaders of tomorrow and they demonstrated that change is possible when people unite.

THIS is advocacy in action.
