So Now What?

Today is Monday, March 12, 2018. Yesterday saw the conclusion of the 2018 Legislative Session in Florida. As a government relations and advocacy consultant, the day after session always makes me a bit melancholy…especially when my focus and energy has been on Tallahassee and the past 60 days of activity!

So on this day, I usually reflect back on the successes and pitfalls my clients experienced, and dissect how we can improve next year. But that reflection is short-lived, because for advocates the real work is just beginning.

That’s because no matter where you live in Florida or America for that fact, the basic, fundamental principal that advocacy is most effective when lawmakers are at home in their districts applies everywhere.

So we’re going to our shift focus from advocating on legislation to building and strengthening relationships. And I’m excited to announce that throughout the summer I’ll be interviewing local and state lawmakers around Florida about how to do just that, and sharing their advice with you!

So whether you’re a citizen, business owner, elected official, community activist, or just want to know more…there will be strategies and advice you can use to become a stronger advocate. I look forward to sharing this “journey” with you over the next several months.
